We have received a generous donation of books for every one of our students from Goodwill Industries. Students will be able to choose a book through a Google form from their English Language Arts teacher. Distribution of these books will begin on Tuesday, September 22 for traditional and blended students. Virtual students will be able to pick up their book from 4:00-5:00 on Thursday, September 24 at the front of the school. Students in Ms. Dickerson's 5th Period Geography class enjoyed a Zoom visit with Arkansas State Senator Joyce Elliott on September 17. Senator Elliott talked with students about state government, the importance of education and health care and preparing for a successful life. We appreciate Senator Elliott for generously giving her time to MMS students!
Maumelle Middle will start printing ID badges tomorrow (Friday, 9/18/2020). All students will need to bring $5.
An optional Fast Pass can be purchased for an additional $10 which will get the student into athletic events at Maumelle Middle School and Maumelle High School. If paying by check, please send separate checks for the ID and the Fast Pass.
Today all students attending on site will take the NWEA MAPS Math Assessment. All students attending virtually from home will be attending information sessions during the testing block this morning. The link to these grade level meetings will be sent through Google Classroom from their 1st pd teacher. All virtual students will test tomorrow.

The final day to purchase Chromebook insurance this year is on September 8. Please use the School Device Coverage website to complete the information for your student's Chromebook. All payments will be submitted online and no money needs to be sent to the school. The serial number for each device is located on the bottom and is part of the Chromebook, not a separate sticker.

Scheduling... Students will continue to follow their previous schedules today, Wednesday, September 2. Your counseling office is working feverishly getting student schedules into HAC. There will continue to be changes throughout today and into this evening. TOMORROW, September 3, students will start following their new schedules which will be found in HAC. Students should check HAC tomorrow (Thursday) morning for their new schedule.

Schoology Update:
The parent access feature is not turned on yet for Schoology. We are working to get all teachers and students up to speed before adding the parent access. We'll share more information next week. Thank you for your continued patience.
Central Arkansas is expected to feel the impact of Hurricane Laura tomorrow. Based on the most current weather updates, the heaviest impact is expected between 3-4pm. Therefore, PCSSD will dismiss school early on Thursday, August 27. Elementary schools will dismiss at 11:30am and Secondary schools will dismiss at 1:00pm. Dismissal times are for both car and bus riders. District offices will dismiss at 1pm as well. There will be no district athletics events on Thursday, August 27. No decision has been made about school or athletic activities for Friday at this time.

Reminder MMS families, Wednesdays in our weekly schedule is an early dismissal day. School will end at 1 pm for students. Only traditional students will attend school physically on that day. Blended students will attend virtually on Wednesdays. Please be prepared to pick-up your traditional car rider by 1 pm. Car riders will be dismissed by grade level beginning with the 6th graders who will be followed by the 7th and 8th graders. Bus riders will also be dismissed at that time. Each Wednesday afternoon our school will be deep cleaned and our teachers will be involved in professional development sessions to maintain an extremely safe learning environment and to equip ourselves to provide an excellent learning experience for our students.
